| The Early Care and Education Program provides services to 68 children, ages 3-5 years old, and their families at New Heights Child Development Program and Windham Heights Day Care. New Heights is located in Columbia and serves 48 children, funded through the School Readiness Grant. Windham Heights Day Care serves 20 children and is located within the Windham Heights Apartment Complex, funded by the Department of Social Services and Head Start. We strive to offer a high quality program, providing educational, health and nutrition and family services for all enrolled families. All classrooms follow the State of Connecticut Preschool Curriculum Framework and Benchmarks, developing a developmentally appropriate curriculum for children. Both of our programs have reached accreditation through the National Association of the Education for Young Children. We strongly encourage families to be involved in our program, and have strong parent involvement where we help families advocate for their children and themselves. As a bilingual/multicultural program serving a diverse population, our staff is also diverse and bilingual. Our program has strong ties with the community, collaborating daily with the Windham Public Schools and many other community programs including the Across the Smiles Dental Van, Family Resource Centers, and the Willimantic Public Library. The Director can be reached at (860)228-7081 or kristen.wood@wrccinc.org if there are any questions. |
